Cybersecurity news: CERT report for the second quarter of 2025
Cyna CERT Q2 2025 report: rebound in ransomware campaigns, most active groups, targeted sectors and three real cyberattacks analysed by our CERT team.
Indeed, May and June saw a significant rebound in the number of ransomware campaigns, far exceeding the figures recorded over the same period in 2023 and 2024. This trend shows the constant adaptability of malicious groups, which are able to adjust their activity while maintaining persistent pressure on organisations.
In light of these fluctuations, this report offers a consolidated analysis of the quarter’s trends, identifying the most active groups, the most targeted sectors and the new techniques observed.
A contrasting quarter, but a threat that is still very much present
Discover our Cyna CERT report on cybersecurity trends for the second quarter of 2025.
Our CERT team offers an overview of the threats observed over recent months: key figures, emerging trends and analyses of three real cyberattacks that took place during the last quarter.
The charts presented are based on data from ransomware.live, an international observatory that records ransomware attacks from the publications of malicious groups and open-source information leaks.
This database provides a near real-time view of global cybercriminal activity, in particular of extortion campaigns that have been made public.
In addition, our team shares three practical lessons learned, drawn from the latest incidents handled, with an operational perspective on modus operandi, impacts and the lessons to be drawn:
- Spyware: epibrowser.exe
- Phishing via a SharePoint campaign
- Automated webshell compromise
Finally, Nathan Bramli, our Head of Cyber at Cyna, will share his views on the situation.
